Mobile router
A maximum of four Ethernet devices can be connected
With the Ruggedcom RM1224, Siemens has added an entry-level device to its portfolio of mobile routers. The router, which can be used worldwide, enables data communication via 4G LTE and, if required, 3G UMTS or CDMA2000 mobile networks.
The device can be used, for example, as a mobile radio access point along rails or in remote substations and switchgear (substations). It can also be used in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) or in remote video surveillance. The router has an integrated 4-port switch that can be used to connect up to four Ethernet devices. Users can send and receive data on two different channels via the two antenna sockets, thereby increasing signal quality and bandwidth. The device has a digital input and output (I/O), allowing secure VPN connections to be set up at the touch of a button, for example. It also offers a redundant power supply to bridge short-term power failures. The mobile router offers a transmission speed of up to 100 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 50 Mbit/s in the uplink via LTE. If LTE is not available, it also supports communication via UMTS and EV-DO (Evolution Data Optimized).
