Valtech Identifies Shortcomings in Agent-Based AI
According to a study by Valtech, professionals are open to the use of agent-based AI. However, companies often do not yet have integrated AI-supported work processes in place. For the study, 1,003 AI users from Europe, the U.S., and the Asia-Pacific region were surveyed.
Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used in companies as part of their day-to-day operations. This is the finding of the global study “The Agentic Age” by the digital business services provider Valtech. The study is based on a survey of 1,003 professionals from Europe, the U.S., and the Asia-Pacific region who use AI in their work.
According to the survey, 86% of respondents expect a productivity increase of at least 10% through the use of AI. At the same time, 75% report that they have not yet achieved integrated or end-to-end AI-supported work processes.
Call for More Interconnected AI
According to the study, 77% of respondents would like AI to provide greater support for collaboration across teams and systems. 74% support AI taking on clearly defined tasks independently, as long as humans retain responsibility.
Only 4% see additional AI pilot projects as offering the greatest value. Instead, respondents expect AI to take over repetitive tasks, speed up processes, and integrate workflows across different systems.
“It now depends on whether companies follow suit and clearly define where AI can provide support, where it is allowed to act independently, and where responsibility must remain with humans,” said David Toma, Vice President of Strategy & Consulting for the DACH region at Valtech.
People remain responsible for their decisions
The study also shows that while respondents are open to AI playing a greater role in carrying out and coordinating tasks, they still believe that responsibility for personnel decisions, strategic direction, and ethical or risk-related decisions lies with humans.
Based on this, Valtech recommends redesigning business processes specifically in areas where AI can take over routine tasks and deliver efficiency gains. According to the company, interconnected, AI-supported work processes are considered the next step in development.
