Trumpf is a new partner of the IPAI (Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence) AI network in Heilbronn. Through this collaboration, the company aims to expand its European network in the field of artificial intelligence and work with partners to develop new applications for industry.

The technology company brings its expertise in industrial manufacturing to the table, while IPAI provides the infrastructure for joint development projects.

“AI transformation is a challenge that companies should tackle together. The technology is evolving too quickly, and the learning curve is steep—every bit of experience we share with one another counts,” says Sarah Engel, Head of AI at Trumpf.

Access to the AI network and test environments

Through this partnership, Trumpf will gain access to international AI forums and networks of experts. In addition, the company plans to use the IPAI’s real-world testing facilities to test and further develop AI-based applications under real-world conditions.

One area of application is training robots to perform complex handling tasks in sheet metal manufacturing. In addition, the infrastructure is to be used for the further development of software using generative AI.

Several AI applications are already in use

According to the company, Trumpf has already developed various AI-based solutions for the manufacturing industry. These include the “SortMaster Vision,” in which a robot automatically sorts components and assigns them to the respective production orders.

Another example is “VisionLine Inspect,” a solution for automated quality inspection of welds that is used, among other things, in electric vehicle applications.
