Energy chains

Lying flat on its side

With the plane-chain, Igus has developed an energy chain concept for long travel distances and high speeds. In this concept, an energy chain is guided flat on its side in a special trough. The low overall height saves the designer space.

The convex trough shape of the trough allows the 'Series E6' energy chain to travel safely in two recessed channels. The stainless steel trough with its low friction factor also ensures a long service life for the chain. A special plastic insulating layer can be used on the outside of the channel to provide additional noise insulation for the system. Thanks to the lightweight components, the energy chain solution can be easily mounted under the ceiling of gantry robots, for example. At the customer's request, 'plane-chain' is also available completely enclosed so that no objects can penetrate from outside.
