Cable replacement in process plants
Replacing cables with radio links has been a tried and tested technology in mobile telephony for decades, and something similar is now also being developed in process technology systems. A Schildknecht development in the form of the "M12 Wireless Distribution System" is geared towards this.
This is a device-based combination of the "Dataeagle X-treme 2730" wireless module including Bluetooth LE wireless link as a "cable" with various IO modules or distribution boxes as universal "terminals". The radio and IO modules each form a structural unit. These wireless IO combination modules from the Dataeagle X-treme IO 2730 device series are equipped with four, eight or 16 IO connections, each of which can be configured as DI or DO or AI or AO and can transmit analog or digital signals wirelessly.
