Plug connector
For IP20 Ethernet connections
Harting is launching the ix Industrial, which, according to the company, sets "a new standard for IP20 Ethernet connections". Until now, the RJ45 connector has been the epitome of the Ethernet interface in an IP20 environment.
However, the size of the RJ45 limits possible miniaturization. Many users and developers therefore want a connector that is smaller and more robust, but at the same time offers Cat. 6A performance for 1/10 Gbit/s Ethernet at the control level. Compared to the RJ45, the Harting system has 70% smaller sockets. For device integration, a socket with five THR shield contacts is available for stability on the PCB. The "ix" connectors have a stable latching mechanism with two metal hooks and, together with the socket, ensure a secure and vibration-resistant connection from the cable to the PCB. Flexible and thin system cables with a tight bending radius are available for device cabling, which can be assembled on both sides with the "ix" plug face or mixed with "ix" and RJ45 connectors. A cable assembly with M12 in x-coding will also be available. The interface is standardized in accordance with IEC/PAS 61076-3-124.
