Take over the coordination of movement
Promicon has added smart head modules to the Varimotion multi-axis system. They allow the drive system to be connected to PLC controllers from established suppliers via Profinet, Profibus or Ethercat.
The compact modules generally have a connection for USB and Ethernet TCP/IP for programming and maintenance. In addition, TCP/IP can be used to access variables in real time via an open protocol. The multi-axis system is particularly suitable for coordinating movements in multi-axis drive topologies. As the axes are coordinated decentrally in the head module, programming is simplified and the load on the PLC is significantly reduced. The servo axes are controlled via the vNET drive network, which operates with a cycle time of 250 µs and an isochronous jitter of <20 ns. A special feature is the multi-tasking capability when implementing motion and function sequences, which enables several processes to take place simultaneously and independently of each other.
