System-on-chip for optical absolute encoders
New from IC-Haus is the 'iC-RT2624' system-on-chip (SoC) for optical encoders with contamination-tolerant scanning.
The microelectronics integrated in the compact 7 mm × 5 mm optoQFN housing deliver exact measured values even with high mounting tolerances, according to the supplier. The core is the interpolation circuit with filtering, which reliably records the angle of a 26 mm code disk with 26-bit resolution. The digitized angle information is available to the serial interfaces BiSS, SSI or SPI in less than 1 µs. A programmable ABZ generator with 'FlexCount' quadrature resolution adapts to any control system. Thanks to auto-calibration and eccentricity compensation, encoder systems with the iC-RT2624 achieve an angular accuracy of less than 0.01°. On-chip calibration can be carried out via the BiSS and SPI serial interfaces or at the touch of a button. The dimensions of the code disk can be freely adapted from an outer diameter of 20 mm with a FlexCode design. The programmable sin/cos generator can be set with 2n CPR (n = 0..15) independently of the basic resolution of the respective code disk. In parallel, the native sin/cos resolution is available for output and is routed in a separate, safety-ready signal path.
