Infineon Technologies AG has completed the acquisition of ams Osram’s non-optical analog/mixed-signal sensor portfolio. The transaction, announced in February 2026, received all necessary regulatory approvals. According to Infineon, the acquisition strengthens its position in the field of sensors for industrial and automotive applications and expands its product offering for medical applications.

The acquired business is expected to generate revenue of approximately 230 million euros in calendar year 2026. In addition, Infineon expects the transaction to have a positive impact on earnings per share immediately upon completion. “The acquired business complements our existing strong portfolio. Furthermore, by combining ams Osram’s sensor portfolio with Infineon’s wafer technologies and mixed-signal IP, we can develop highly innovative new products for our customers,” said Stephan Zizala, Division President of Edge Systems at Infineon.

The acquired business includes positioning, temperature, and capacitive sensors for applications in the automotive, industrial, consumer, and medical technology sectors. Applications include, among others, chassis position measurement and hand-on-steer detection for semi-autonomous driving, angle and position sensing in robotics, and continuous glucose monitoring systems. In addition, Infineon is acquiring mixed-signal products for medical imaging, including solutions for computed tomography, digital X-ray, and application-specific sensor interface ASICs.

Integration into a new division

The acquired portfolio will be integrated into the newly established Edge Systems division. There, Infineon will combine sensor technology, computing power, connectivity, and security for edge applications.

As a result of the acquisition, approximately 230 employees from the research and development and management divisions will join Infineon. At the same time, the company is expanding its presence to include locations in Valencia (Spain), Rapperswil (Switzerland), and Hyderabad (India).
