Magnetic position sensors

The 'iC-TW39' TMR angle sensor for on-axis applications from iC-Haus is suitable for high-resolution incremental and absolute measuring systems and also supports multi-turn applications.

The 24-bit TMR sensor uses a magnetic tunnel resistor to follow the field vector of a rotating magnet at the end of the shaft: Here, the resistance changes proportionally to the direction of magnetization, so that 360° are detected very accurately. According to the manufacturer iC-Haus, the TMR angle sensor offers several advantages over conventional Hall sensors: Due to the high sensitivity, larger working distances are possible, which allows for greater axial play of the motor axis and larger mounting tolerances. The quantum mechanical tunnel effect requires high output voltages for the TMR output signal (typically 500 mV at a magnetic flux density of 50 mT). This means that no complex amplification of the signal is necessary. Further features are the low temperature coefficient of the output voltage, the low offset drift and the high angular accuracy, combined with low power consumption.
