Detect alignment and speed simultaneously

TWK has expanded its family of inclination sensors with a special device that makes it possible to precisely measure the current orientation - i.e. the inclination or position (360°) - and the speed at the same time in a rotating application.

The sensor is mounted in the rotating part and does not have to be positioned centrally on the axis of rotation. The sensors used for position (accelerometer) and speed (gyroscope) are MEMS-based. The sensor is optimized for non-reversing operation.

It transmits its values to the controller via CANopen or Profinet (also Profisafe - PLd). The direction of rotation, zero point and distance to the rotary axis can be parameterized; a special version also detects the distance to the rotary axis automatically. In principle, the function corresponds to that of a rotary encoder for position and speed. According to the supplier, special filter measures suppress interfering accelerations.
