Certified for safety-related applications

The TRK38 safety encoder from TWK-Elektronik has been certified for applications that meet the requirements of SIL 2 (IEC 61508) and Performance Level d (EN 13849).

The safety encoder from TWK-Elektronik detects speed and rotational speed and works according to the magnetic principle. The safety-related signals are transmitted via a certified Ethercat FSoE interface. Measuring 38 mm x 38 mm (diameter x length), the cylindrical sensor can also be installed in very confined spaces.

One of the first users of the singleturn absolute rotary encoder is a manufacturer of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and mobile robots. Here, the encoder detects the rotation of the electric traction motor. Other areas of application for which the new safety sensor was developed include wind turbines (rotor position), crane systems (cable winch monitoring), filling systems and mobile machinery.
