Beyond vision applications
The Sensor Integration Machine SIM4000 is a multi-camera and sensor processor which, as a 'One Box Solution', enables cross-technology sensor integration far beyond pure vision applications, according to the provider Sick.
As part of the 'Sick AppSpace' eco-system, it enables digital object transformation for quality control, process analysis and predictive maintenance for vertical integration in Industry 4.0. A multi-core processor with hardware accelerator for image pre-processing and I/O handling in real time is available for sophisticated image processing algorithms, such as the fusion of 2D or 3D sources into a point cloud. The image processing library 'Halcon' is integrated. The programmable 'Sensor Integration Machine' offers system integrators and OEMs the opportunity to develop applications specifically tailored to customer requirements. In addition to the classic relevant image processing tasks, data from the provider's sensors and cameras can be merged into a point cloud, evaluated, archived and transferred. For 2D or 3D cameras, 8 Gbit Ethernet interfaces are available, some with power supply via Ethernet (PoE). Additional sensors can be integrated via IO-Link, for example for distance and height measurement. Data synchronization across all connections can be achieved using a fast multi-encoder interface.
