Strong export growth with electromechanics
In 2018, Hummel achieved a total turnover of EUR 73.4 million, a further increase compared to the previous year.
This means that the company has once again exceeded its 'record turnover' from 2017 (EUR 71.5 million): "This is a good result, as the overall economic environment did deteriorate somewhat over the course of 2018," explains CEO Holger Hummel.
Hummel's largest product segment is electromechanical components, which includes cable glands and circular connectors. This segment generated more than three quarters of total sales and achieved growth of 5.5%. The strongest foreign market with a share of almost 10% of total sales is China, followed by the USA/Canada, Italy and France. The largest increases were also recorded in these markets, which can be attributed to the strategy of consistent internationalization in recent years. In China, sales increased by 8%, while Italy and France grew by around 10% last year.
The heating accessories segment, which comprises 'problem-solving products' for heating installers such as fittings, screw connections and air vent valves, contributed around 13% of sales. This segment also grew slightly last year (2.4%).
Hummel employs 603 people worldwide (2017: 544), 378 of whom work at the two sites in Denzlingen and Waldkirch.
