eks Engel restructures company

Fiber optic specialist eks Engel has spun off its "Customer-specific developments" and "Livestreaming" divisions. In future, they will operate as independent companies together with eks Engel FOS, which markets standard versions of fiber optic systems.

The restructuring is intended to give new impetus to the business activities of the medium-sized, family-run company. "By positioning ourselves even more strongly as a development partner and expanding our existing core business of industrial data communication via fiber optic cables to include live streaming systems, we are opening up additional opportunities on the market," says Managing Director Ralph Engel.

Customer-specific projects, which are possible from a quantity of 1, are carried out by eks Engel CS. As the Ethernet switches and fieldbus converters are based on modular hardware and software platforms, customized solutions can be developed in a comparatively short time. The range of services extends from modified series devices to completely new developments that differ in terms of management functions, number and connection technology of the ports, fiber types, protection class or specific approvals.

eks Engel LST is responsible for activities in the field of live streaming. The portable s-live system is a platform-independent solution for transmitting live video and audio streams via the Internet. In this way, machines and systems can be installed and put into operation. Furthermore, additional services such as service, training and maintenance contracts create new business models, for example for customers in mechanical engineering or the process industry.
