Flexible Visualization with LED Strips

ifm is launching LED strips that enable innovative visualizations. The strips, available in lengths ranging from 250 mm to 5,000 mm, consist of up to 320 LEDs, each of which can be individually controlled for color and brightness.

Since the flexible LED strip is fully encapsulated in plastic using a special extrusion process, it meets the IP69K protection rating. This makes the LED strips suitable for applications in the food industry as well. Should an LED ever fail, the rest of the strip continues to function without restriction thanks to an integrated bypass system. The flexible strips can also be mounted on curved surfaces. They are controlled via the “DP1617 Controller,” which allows the user to select from predefined operating modes. In Segment Mode, individual segments of the strip can be defined and then controlled independently. Run Mode can simulate a moving light effect. Bargraph Mode displays values as a bar graph, while Position Mode can clearly indicate specific positions.
