Formula Student Germany 2017
New competition class at the start
115 teams from 24 nations brought the asphalt at the Hockenheimring to the boil at Formula Student Germany in August. The 'Driverless' competition class celebrated its premiere this year.
For the 13th Formula Student Germany, the 4,000 participating students had one year to design a racing car. The 115 teams then had to prove their skills in disciplines such as acceleration, endurance, fuel/energy efficiency, design and financial planning at the Hockenheimring from August 7 to 12. Both electric vehicles in the Electric class and normal combustion engines in the Combustion class were used. This year, the Formula Student Driverless (FSD) competition class also started for the first time, with vehicles competing in autonomous mode. 15 teams took up this challenge.
