Drive technology - The winners
Drive technology is what keeps the industry moving. The winners in this category show just how diverse this area of technology is.
3rd place: Pilz - Motion Monitoring Module 'PNOZ m EF 1MM2DO' of the configurable small controller 'PNOZmulti 2'
© Mushroom3rd place - Pilz
The motion monitoring module PNOZ m EF 1MM2DO of the configurable small controller 'PNOZmulti 2' from Pilz also offers the functions cascading and delayed switch-off in the area of safe motion monitoring. In conjunction with the base unit 'PNOZ m B0' or 'PNOZ m B1', the module monitors an axis safely up to safety category PL e to EN ISO 13849-1 or up to SIL CL 3 to EN IEC 62061. It covers up to eight safe monitoring functions on an axis, for example Safe Stop, Safe Operating Stop or Safe Speed Limitation. More...
Andreas Volland, Product Manager at Pilz, accepted the trophy and explained why motion monitoring is an important topic for the control system and described the various functions and advantages of the module.

Stöber Antriebstechnik has further developed the One Cable Solution (OCS) in collaboration with encoder manufacturer Heidenhain and launched the next generation on the market. Using the Heidenhain EnDat 3 protocol, the hybrid cable can connect motors and drive controllers at a distance of up to 100 meters. Users receive a complete system consisting of synchronous servo motor, cable and matching drive controller.
Endat 3 supports the structural design of the 'SC6' and 'SI6' drive controllers. Both drive controllers have the same transceiver chip as the EnDat 3 encoder. More...
The trophy was accepted on behalf of Stöber Antriebstechnik by Managing Director Andreas Thiel, Dr. Florian Dreher, Head of Motor Development, and Stephan Scholze, Head of Electronics Development, who talked about user feedback on the hybrid cable, described its special features and explained why the award is also an incentive.
1st place in the drive technology category
1st place - Lenze
Lenze has developed an auto-tuning system for industrial drives that is based on the Ziegler-Nichols method. The latest versions of the 'i950' and 'i700' servo drives are already equipped with it. Additional measuring components are not necessary.
The company relies exclusively on measuring the physical control path. Errors caused by the use of a model can thus be avoided, as can the disadvantages of manual adjustment. More...
Lenze's Ines Oppermann, Head of Trade, Press and Social Media, Karsten Piekarski, Product Manager Autotuning, Dr. Johannes Kühn, Project Manager Development Autotuning and Burkhard Balz, Senior Vice President Automation Systems, were delighted with the award and explained the development of autotuning and its particular advantages during the presentation ceremony, as well as providing a glimpse of future innovations.
