Leuze
Targets for 2021 exceeded
After a rather subdued 2020, 2021 was again "characterized by growth" at Leuze, explained CEO Ulrich Balbach at the annual press conference.
Many investments in machines and systems that could not take place in 2020 were largely responsible for the growth, as the logistical possibilities for their realization were not given due to Corona. Leuze was therefore able to exceed the "very ambitious" targets for 2021: Coming from a jumping-off point of EUR 211 million in sales in 2020, the target for 2021 was defined as sales growth of just under 12%. A sales increase of 23% was achieved, meaning that Leuze closed the past financial year with sales of just under EUR 260 million.
The company recorded particularly high growth in Asia, above all in China with a 60% increase in sales. The Americas, particularly the USA, achieved sales growth of just over 26%, while Europe averaged 14%.
Looking at incoming orders, this is even more impressive, says Balbach: "Throughout the year, we recorded new, unprecedented all-time highs in incoming orders virtually every month. Our strongest month was November. In total, our incoming orders grew by no less than 60% to an exorbitant EUR 346 million compared to EUR 216 million in the previous year. In China, this figure even rose by 153%. This corresponds to a factor of 2.5. The biggest driving factor there at the moment is certainly the topic of electromobility. We currently have an order backlog that is 4-5 times higher than 'in normal times'."
