Posital
New tool for maintenance engineers and the MRO segment
Sensor manufacturer Posital has launched the intuitive online tool 'EncoderMatch.com'. According to the provider, the web platform is a search engine, configurator and ordering tool in one and is aimed at the spare parts business.
With just a few clicks, maintenance engineers and technical purchasers can quickly and cost-effectively find suitable replacements for encoders from a wide range of manufacturers that need to be replaced in existing machines or systems. At the end of a visit to the 'EncoderMatch' portal, the enquirer is provided with information on which specific product from Posital 's modular portfolio is suitable for smooth device replacement. If a compatible replacement product is found, a detailed data sheet is attached. Orders can be placed from 'batch size 1'. Production takes place after receipt of the order in the digital factory in Slubice, Poland. The delivery time is usually three days. A 24-hour service is offered for express orders.
"With EncoderMatch, we are specifically targeting a new market," explains Jörg Paulus, General Manager responsible for Posital's European business. "While our customers have so far mainly been OEMs from a wide range of industries, we are now opening up our digital system to a completely new target group - globally." Specifically, 'EncoderMatch' is aimed at the MRO and after-sales market, where the replacement requirements for millions of encoders installed worldwide are the focus. Posital is launching the MRO initiative with incremental encoders. 'EncoderMatch' starts as a referencing tool for maintenance engineers with the specs of over 1.5 million incremental encoder types from the catalogs of more than 20 globally established encoder manufacturers. The algorithms developed using artificial intelligence (AI) compare parameters such as resolution, interfaces, installation space, shaft and flange dimensions or protection class of the encoders to be replaced with the data pool of Posital's modular portfolio. Users have various options when entering the portal: The quickest way to reach their destination is to enter the exact type order code, which is usually printed on the device and contains key information about its design and functionality. The search result shows the exact match between the suggested replacement device and the original encoder. Alternatively, it is also possible to access the product range of a specific manufacturer - without an exact type designation - whereby the enquirer is directed to Posital's online product finder. All Posital encoders that cover the specified requirement profile are listed here as the 'next step'.
"With EncoderMatch, we have launched an exciting initiative that is really shaking up the MRO market and creating more favorable cost structures by eliminating the middleman. In addition to price, we are also setting new standards in terms of availability," says Paulus. "This also applies to vintage donors that have long since disappeared from the original manufacturers' catalogs - and are readily available from us."
