Inka Krischke,

Multiturn encoder for micromotors

Posital launches miniaturized 22 mm multiturn kit encoders for small and micro drives. Until now, small and micro motors were at best equipped with single-turn or incremental encoders.

The compact magnetic multiturn kits pave the way for complete motor feedback. Even in the event of a sudden power failure and system standstill, the energy-autonomous counting electronics of the mini kits remain in position. It seamlessly tracks the movement of the trailing shaft in a de-energized state and transmits the buffered position values precisely and seamlessly to the central control system when the system is restarted.

With their compact footprint (diameter: 22 mm, height: 23 mm), the mounting kits, which weigh just 35 g, are a perfect fit for the most common micromotors. According to the manufacturer Posital, they can be easily integrated into existing motor designs. With SSI and Biss C, two manufacturer-independent interfaces are available. The calibration function is integrated: After briefly turning the shaft, the kit automatically adjusts itself to the motor and stores the parameters in the memory.
