Magnetostrictive and contactless measuring principle

The robust displacement sensors of the OMS2 and PMS2 series from Megatron are insensitive to shock and vibration. Their magnetostrictive, contactless measuring principle ensures low-maintenance, wear-free operation.

The OMS2 series enables position detection in applications with measuring ranges from 50 to 1500 mm and the PMS2 series from 50 to 4000 mm. The mechanical detection of the linear movement is carried out via a guided or a free position encoder. The position of the magnetic encoder is output as a linear analog signal and is absolute. The position feedback is also immediately available after switching on and off.

The free encoder tolerates lateral and horizontal offsets of up to ±2 mm. According to Megatron, the magnetic encoder with ball coupling compensates for vertical and horizontal offset, which simplifies integration in applications with strong shock and vibration influences. The sensors are designed with IP67 protection.
