Safety portfolio expanded
Pepperl+Fuchs is expanding its portfolio for factory automation by acquiring the 'USi' safety ultrasonic sensor from Mayser, the 'world's only' ultrasonic sensor with safety certification in accordance with EN ISO 13849 Category 3 PL d, according to the company.
Mayser is a provider of products and system solutions in the field of safety technology, among others. By acquiring the ultrasonic sensor, Pepperl+Fuchs is further expanding its position as one of the market leaders in ultrasonic sensor technology and safety applications.
Designed as a 2-channel ultrasonic sensor, the 'USi' has two transducers that are connected to an evaluation unit. An elliptical sound beam on each of the two independent channels enables object detection in a range of up to 2500 mm. Two safe OSSD outputs are available for signal output. Sales will start in the first quarter of 2021 "The USi is a perfect addition to our broad portfolio of ultrasonic sensors and also expands our range in the strategic target sectors of intralogistics and mobile machines with an intelligent and highly reliable safety application solution," comments Reiner Müller, Head of Factory Automation at Pepperl+Fuchs.
