The presentation attempts to explain the connection between the pandemic and digitalization using examples and to assess whether and to what extent the pandemic was or is conducive to the progress of digitalization.

About Dr. Gunther Kegel

After studying electrical engineering at the TU Darmstadt in 1985, Gunther Kegel worked at the TU Darmstadt as a research assistant, completing his dissertation in the field of "Integration of sensor signals in robot control systems", before becoming head of pre-development at Pepperl+Fuchs in 1990.

After just one year, he became Head of Development for the Factory Automation division before taking over its management in 1994. Always connected to technology, he became Managing Director (Technology) of today's Pepperl+Fuchs AG in 1997 and has been Chairman of the Management Board since 2001.

Kegel has been a member of the ZVEI Executive Board for 22 years and was elected ZVEI President in October 2020.
