Scott Eckert, CEO of Rethink Robotics, confirmed the closure of the company to the US robotics trade journal 'The Robot Report' by email: "I can confirm that the news is unfortunately true: Rethink Robotics has closed its doors today," he wrote. Eckert continued: "Unfortunately, we did not quite achieve the intended success in the market." An expected deal to take over Rethink Robotics did not materialize. According to The Robot Report, the company was short of cash because robot sales had not met expectations. Rethink Robotics will soon begin to sell its patents and the associated IP.
