Between 2020 and 2023, sales of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in the logistics sector, for example, will increase by 31% annually. At the same time, the use of AMRs in public spaces is increasing rapidly - the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) forecasts annual sales growth of 40% worldwide.

"Mobile robots are traditionally used in an industrial environment, for example to transport workpieces around the factory or to feed machines," says Milton Guerry, President of the IFR. "Today, AMRs also work in applications where they move around in public spaces. The mobile helpers inform customers when shopping, deliver room service orders in hotels or support police tasks by patrolling urban parks, for example. The IFR white paperon the mobile revolution provides an overview of the application scenarios for mobile robots and their most important effects."
