Continental will be presenting its autonomous mobile robots, or AMRs for short, as an end-to-end solution for the first time at Logimat. The AMRs have already been in use at several of the technology company's production sites worldwide since 2020. The company developed its autonomous mobile robots itself, as the Group did not believe that such a solution was readily available on the market. The experience gained from this test phase has been incorporated into the version of the AMR that is now available externally; for example, functions have been improved and the handling of new applications has been optimized.

The AMRs measure 145.5 cm × 63 cm × 22.5 cm (L×W×H) and can transport loads of up to 1.2 t at a speed of up to 2.0 m/s. This makes them versatile and extremely maneuverable at the same time. According to the company, other features include high power density, higher torque, a shorter turning radius, optimized sensor coverage, improvements in the design of the lifting mechanism and accessibility of the controls, as well as simple equipment for transporting trolleys, pallets and roller conveyors.

Together with its partner Kinexon, the technology group offers optional fleet management software. This makes it easier to create orders and routes and to manage the AMR. The partner company also offers an ultra-wideband (UWB) system for connecting relevant material flow items.

Various add-on modules are available from the partner ROEQ. Users can choose between the trolley/frame and lifting unit applications. Roller conveyor modules are also available to transfer loads between AMR and conveyor systems.
