Process modules
Flexible modular system
Shorter time-to-market is playing an increasingly important role in the process industry and this must be mapped early on in the product life cycle.
Together with Merck, Copa-Data is presenting a pioneering approach for use in the laboratory to meet these challenges: A plant is made up of several autonomous plant modules. A module is digitally mapped to a specific process step, an automation component or the entire system. The smaller the modules, the more flexible the system. According to the 'modular principle', systems can be reassembled from the individual modules again and again as required. A large part of the engineering already takes place in module engineering. Finished modules can be used as often as required. MTP (Module Type Package) is a standardized description of the process engineering aspects of a system module and is the interface between process and automation technology. This is an official and manufacturer-independent standard (VDI/VDE/NAMUR 2658). As soon as the individual MTPs are imported into the control system at a higher automation level, all functions are automatically made available there and orchestrated from there. Copa-Data will be demonstrating the integration of MTPs and orchestration for use in the laboratory environment with Merck at the SPS using a current project as an example.
