Simplified variant management

With the HTML5 application 'mapp CodeBox', B&R makes it easier for machine and system manufacturers to manage machine variants. The tool can be used to program options in ladder diagrams without changing the original machine software.

The machine builder programs the basic functions of his machine as usual in the automation software. They can specify which data, functions and variables 'mapp CodeBox' has access to. In this way, all special requests and options can be added later in the ladder diagram. The separation of machine software and additional software for individual options results in various advantages: On the one hand, it rules out the possibility of errors being programmed into the machine software at a later date due to the implementation of options or customizations. Secondly, variant management is massively simplified. The HTML5 application can be used on any browser-enabled device. A signal flow display helps with diagnostics and maintenance. The ladder diagram programs can be saved, versioned and transferred to other machines. If required, they can also be imported back into the automation project.
