New record for orders on hand

Siemens has announced its figures for the second quarter of 2017: the company has grown in terms of both sales and order intake. The order backlog has reached a new high.

Siemens CEO Joe Kaeser: "We have once again outperformed the markets. In the second half of the fiscal year, our focus will be on the careful integration of Mentor Graphics and the successful launch of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy."

In the second quarter of 2017, revenue at Siemens increased by 6% to €20.2 billion compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The company also increased its order intake by 2% to €22.6 billion, resulting in a new record order backlog for the Industrial Business (see photo gallery). On a comparable basis (excluding currency translation and portfolio effects), sales revenue increased by 5% and order intake by 1%.
