Zander
Control systems: Communication in real time
Zander has added four new features to the ZX09 family of FPGA-based compact industrial controllers.
In addition to the analog high-speed controllers ZX09B and ZX09C, which each have six analog inputs for fast recording and processing of analog current and voltage signals within 10 µs, the high-speed controllers ZX09D and ZX09E were developed, which have an RS485 interface in addition to the six analog inputs. Among other things, this enables all of the manufacturer's control units to be quickly linked in pairs with an equivalent interface.
Thanks to the associated 'Zander Link' protocol, which allows communication at up to 8 Mbit/s, up to three control units can exchange a large number of data bits within a few microseconds. This makes it possible to communicate with each other in real time and evaluate the transmitted data. Due to the short transmission time, the linked control units act almost as one system. This means that up to 13 high-speed analog inputs or up to 30 fast digital inputs can be used in parallel. The link is configured via a predefined function block in the 'Ex-Press 5' program development software in the 'Structured Text' programming language in accordance with IEC 61131-3.
