Draw circuit diagrams instead of writing C code
According to the manufacturer Prahm, the PMS Function Block Editor FB2 makes it easier and more intuitive to develop real-time software. The function block language is the ideal high-level language for C, as it is the direct graphical representation of C functions.
The graphical representation of function blocks is similar to components in circuit diagrams. A function appears as a rectangle with the binary and analog inputs and outputs on the left and right.
The scope of delivery includes library functions for all Siemens Simatic S5 functions, which can be dragged from the toolbox onto the workspace. According to Prahm, it is easy to draw your own function blocks interactively. According to the provider, an experienced C programmer can implement the function of the block in no time at all using a corresponding C function. In this way, a company can offer its customers library functions tailored to their own systems.
