New functions and free of charge until the end of the year
The Codesys Group is now making its "Codesys Automation Server" available to Codesys users free of charge throughout the year due to the coronavirus crisis. In addition, the cloud-based Industry 4.0 platform for managing globally distributed control systems offers new functions.
"More than 100,000 users worldwide work with the IEC 61131-3 automation software Codesys and implement thousands of different applications," says Dieter Hess, Managing Director of the Codesys Group. "The current global situation shows us how valuable it is to be able to administer control landscapes centrally. Installing new versions, creating security via automated backups - all this is possible with the Codesys Automation Server without having to be on site."
According to Dieter Hess, in order to make a small contribution to the "social distancing" that is currently required, all Codesys users can now use the possibilities of the Industry 4.0 platform free of charge. The Codesys Group is offering this service until the end of 2020.
In addition, the Codesys Group has extensively revised the web interface of the Codesys Automation Server based on user feedback. For example, the source and binary files of the control programs, i.e. the projects and applications, are now clearly assigned in the interface. "This has made the administration and rollout of application updates even easier and more secure," explains Dieter Hess.
Another new feature is the ability to display the web visualizations of connected controllers directly from the Codesys Automation Server administration interface. The existing TLS-secured data communication to the server is used for this purpose. Users no longer have to deal with their own secure infrastructure such as VPN tunnels in order to display Codesys web visualizations in a remote browser.
Registration for the Codesys Automation Server takes place at any time in the Codesys Store.
