Based on a SMARC Computer-on-Module with 'i.MX 8M' Plus processor, the added value of the set, according to Congatec, lies in the use of the processor-integrated NXP Neural Processing Unit (NPU), which delivers performance of up to 2.3 TOPS for deep learning-based artificial intelligence. It can run inference engines and libraries such as Arm Neural Network (NN) and TensorFlow Lite. It can also be seamlessly integrated into Basler's embedded vision software.

The core of the starter set is the SMARC 2.1 Computer-on-Module 'conga-SMX8-plus', which has four Arm Cortex-A53 cores, an Arm Cortex-M72 controller and the NXP NPU for accelerating deep learning algorithms. The 3.5-inch carrier board 'conga-SMC1/SMARC-ARM' connects the 13 MP MIPI camera 'Basler dart daA4200-30mci BCON' with a F1.8 f4mm lens directly via MIPI CSI-2.0 without additional converter modules. In addition to MIPI CSI-2.0, USB and GigE Vision cameras are supported.
