The planned acquisition of Perle Systems
On August 31, Phoenix Contact signed an agreement to acquire the Canadian network specialist Perle Systems Limited. The Toronto-based company has been selling media converters, industrial Ethernet switches and serial devices developed in-house since 1976. Phoenix Contact's aim is to expand the new subsidiary, which currently has around 50 employees, into a further competence center for industrial networking within the Group. Frank Stührenberg, CEO of Phoenix Contact: "Perle Systems has extensive product know-how and successfully operates a global online business. This offers us an important reinforcement in the area of digitalization of business models. By integrating this expertise, we are supplementing our product portfolio and also gaining a valuable development resource." Perle Systems will continue to operate the business under its own name.
