Artificial intelligence (AI)
'appliedAI' initiative aims to promote understanding of AI
The 'appliedAI' initiative aims to promote the use of AI in Germany with immediate effect. It was launched by UnternehmerTUM - an innovation center at the Technical University of Munich - and 26 technology and industrial groups such as Google, Nvidea, SAP and Siemens.
To this end, the initiative aims to convey a broad understanding of AI, its importance and its potential applications and to build up expertise among company employees and students. It also aims to give interested parties access to the technology. The aim is to implement prototypes more quickly and promote the exchange of experience. The social and economic impact of AI will also be discussed as part of the 'appliedAI' initiative. With 26 partners, selected start-ups and over 100 committed students, the initiative is currently one of the largest initiatives in Europe in the field of applied artificial intelligence. It aims to offer start-ups, SMEs, large companies and technology partners an open, non-profit and neutral platform on which to pool their expertise.
"Artificial intelligence is already influencing how we move around, feed ourselves and work in the future. The developments in recent years in the field of autonomous driving and robotics alone show that AI is of great importance for the future of our economy and society," says Dr. Andreas Liebl, Managing Director of the UnternehmerTUM Center and head of the initiative. "We have joined forces with leading industrial and technology companies to raise awareness of the technology and accelerate its application through knowledge sharing, training and prototyping."
In the AI lab in Garching near Munich, UnternehmerTUM provides all interested parties with state-of-the-art hardware, the knowledge of experts on site and advice on the development of AI technologies and the development of their areas of application. NVIDIA, as one of the leading companies in the field of AI and autonomous driving, is providing its expertise and hardware in the field of GPU processor technology.
