Vision systems
Fully integrated
B&R has developed a fully integrated, flexible embedded vision system with intelligent cameras at its core. The 'Smart Light' lighting is either integrated into the cameras or available as an external device; combinations are also possible.
Difficult lighting situations - such as ambient light - do not impair the performance of the vision system thanks to the automatic control of the lighting. The integration of the vision system covers all levels: Engineering tool, real-time operating system and the application. Interfaces in the runtime system are eliminated, camera and light are just as much an integral part as analogue and digital I/Os, servo axes or safety, so that parameterization and programming of image processing routines as well as camera and lighting settings are part of the automation project. Control programmers can perform many vision tasks themselves, as all data, parameters and variables are standardized for the entire system. Ready-made software modules from "mapp Technology" allow applications to be created without a great deal of programming effort. The range of applications for the vision system extends from barcode reading, OCV and OCR to demanding tasks such as in the production of pharmaceuticals, in printing machines or in textile manufacturing. The different camera models are seamlessly scalable and are based on the same technology. Cameras and light are integrated directly into the machine's real-time network via Powerlink. The protocol is used to synchronize with the control and drive technology and to transfer information for visualization. Triggering takes place directly from the control or drive application. This means that image triggers and light control can be controlled in hard real time and in the sub-µs range synchronously with the entire automation system.
