On the night of November 16/17, 2017, the time had finally come: Tesla CEO Elon Musk presented the 'Tesla Semi' electric truck. The vehicle is powered by four electric motors on the rear axles. Without a load, the 'Tesla Semi' is designed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. With a load of 35 tons, this should be possible in 20 seconds. The electric truck reaches a top speed of 104 km/h.

According to Elon Musk, the battery of the e-truck can be charged in 30 minutes using so-called megachargers to achieve a range of 400 miles - around 640 km. The truck will be available in two battery sizes - for a range of either 480 or 800 km. The Megachargers are modeled on the manufacturer's Superchargers for electric vehicles. Musk wants to build a global charging network for this purpose.

Musk also promises a high level of safety: 'Semi' has driver assistance systems such as emergency brake assist, a lane departure warning function and a collision warning system.
