Frequency inverter
Increased energy efficiency
Schneider Electric has a regenerative unit for the 'Altivar Machine' and 'Altivar Process' series of frequency inverters.
With the modular ATV Regenerative Unit (ATV Regen), the braking energy released by frequency converter-controlled drive motors can be fed directly back into the supply network. According to the manufacturer, the regenerative unit enables a significant increase in energy efficiency and, in contrast to braking resistors that are still frequently used, offers a payback period of typically twelve months. The modules are particularly suitable for applications with high mass inertia, such as those used in lifting and conveyor technology. The modules are available in power ratings of 7.5 kW and 15 kW and cover a voltage range from 380 V to 500 V. The regenerative unit can be connected directly to the intermediate circuit of one or more frequency inverters. Thanks to the modular design, it is also possible to connect several units with different power ratings in parallel, whereby a maximum regenerative power of 45 kW can be achieved. The modules can be integrated directly into the control cabinet in book or footprint format as required.
