Safety level for mobile vehicles
The 'TBSN/TRSN' model series from TWK Elektronik includes rotary encoders for high functional safety requirements. They are SIL3 certified and ISO 26262 ASIL-D compliant.
The encoders from TWK Elektronik can also be used in particularly safety-critical applications, such as in public road traffic in remote-controlled vehicles. The position value is recorded redundantly and processed independently in two microprocessors. It is output via the CANopen safety protocol. The single-turn variant 'TBSN' offers a maximum resolution of 65,536 steps for one revolution. The multiturn version 'TRSN' additionally records 4096 revolutions. Thanks to a housing made of magnetically shielding stainless steel, these devices can be placed directly on a motor without distorting the measurement result. The same is guaranteed by a high EMC/ESD resistance. An operating temperature range of -40 to +70 °C and protection class up to IP69K allows use even under adverse environmental conditions.
