According to Baumer, the PAD20 detects even the smallest air and gas bubbles in liquid media and reports as soon as the individually adjustable limit values for gas inclusions are exceeded. This signal can be used to switch off the pump or to issue a simple warning message. The sensor also signals whether a closed system is free of gas bubbles.

The digital IO-Link interface also provides additional information for condition monitoring, for example: users can measure how many gas inclusions are and were in the system. The sensor works in liquid media such as milk as well as in viscous oil. The sensor measuring principle is based on the DK value-based detection (dielectric constants) of air and gas bubbles in liquids with a minimum conductivity of DK >1.5. By individually defining two switching ranges, users have the option of adjusting the sensor to the requirements of their process.
