100% inspection at online conditions

Remote laser welding has found its way into car body construction at vehicle manufacturers and is becoming increasingly important. With the SeelectorIcam Laser quality assurance system, Hema provides a fully automatic inspection system.

It is integrated into the laser remote scanner and records images after each individual weld in order to evaluate them immediately and provide the strength assessment as soon as the body component is completed. According to the manufacturer, this achieves the 100% inspection under online conditions that the user is looking for. The monitoring system's intelligent HDR camera looks through the laser's optics at every finished weld and takes images, meaning that the weld seam is assessed directly from the live image. Special image processing algorithms evaluate the images in the camera, ensuring the required speed of evaluation. The result is a clear statement about the strength of the weld seam. The weld is analyzed immediately after lowering the laser power and enables an overall statement (IO/NIO) to be made directly after the last weld on the component, as well as the visualization of defects and defect types for reworking. The evaluated data is transferred to the host computer. NIO parts are ejected automatically.
