Safety relay in batch size 1 for the first time

Pilz has set up a digital, end-to-end concept for the modular safety relay 'myPNOZ', from selection to ordering. This allows safe solutions to be offered that are built individually in batch size 1 according to customer-specific requirements.

The intuitive online tool 'myPNOZ Creator' allows users to put together 'their' safety relay: It is delivered pre-assembled, adjusted and tested, making it a ready-to-install and completely customized system. Programming knowledge is not required to create it in the online tool, as the logic of the safety functions is defined via the module selection and their plug-in sequence.

The safety relay monitors the emergency stop, safety gate, light curtain, two-hand IIIA/C and enabling switch safety functions and consists of a head module with a maximum of eight freely combinable extension modules. Depending on the safety requirements, the user connects safety functions such as emergency stop or safety gate with logical AND/OR links. The online tool 'myPNOZ Creator' displays logic errors in the sequence of safety functions via an icon. Users can add further safety functions as required and define details, such as a pick-up or drop-out delay. The user can immediately check whether a circuit or safety design meets their own requirements using the online tool's simulation. This reduces errors and therefore speeds up commissioning.

In the 'myPNOZ Creator', the number, type and logical interconnection of the safety functions can be defined, depending on what the customer needs for their plant. The tool uses this information to automatically calculate which modules are required and the order in which they need to be plugged in. The plug-in sequence results from the logic of linking the safety functions. Due to this internal combination logic, no programming knowledge is required for the creation. The generated product can be ordered directly via the online tool.
The safety switching device is supplied pre-assembled and ready for installation. Each device is given a unique type code so that the same system configuration can be ordered again at any time if required.

In total, the modular safety relay offers up to twelve different expansion modules: four output modules, four input modules and four input/output modules. Each input module can monitor two safety functions, which minimizes hardware costs in particular and also reduces the amount of wiring required.
Several safety sensors can be monitored without having to wire several switching devices. In addition, it is possible to create several safety zones that monitor system parts acting independently of each other.
The 17.5 mm narrow head module already has a higher-level safety function. This acts on all outputs independently of any other safety zones. The output modules switch either time-delayed or directly and are available with relay or semiconductor outputs.
With 'myPNOZ', the modules are simply connected to each other via BUS plugs. In addition, the entire system is supplied with power via the head module. This means that only the head module needs to be connected to the power supply, which reduces the amount of cabling required.

The safety relay also has extended diagnostics via LED for each module and for each safety input.
