Operating safety gates safely and securely

The PITgatebox operating unit is now available in a total of 15 preconfigured variants, which offer various possible combinations of pushbuttons, switches, emergency stop buttons and the PITreader readout unit for user authentication. This allows users to flexibly implement their individual safety gate application in areas such as packaging, robotics, factory automation or woodworking. In addition to the simple operation of safety gate switches or systems, PITgatebox enables the operator to intuitively execute commands such as activate, stop or acknowledge machines or systems at the touch of a button.

All versions of the operating unit consist of a die-cast zinc metal housing with IP65 protection, which is robust against shock, vibration and collision. Thanks to its slim design, the operating unit can be mounted quickly and easily on standard profile systems. A 12-pin M12 connection and rotatable end caps ensure flexible installation with minimal cabling effort.

Pilz also offers two variants with integrated PITreader read-out unit to control access authorizations easily via the operating unit. Users receive their individual authorization for access to the machine or plant on a coded RFID key and authenticate themselves at the safety gate: the key is read in PITreader and access is granted if the appropriate authorization is given. Commands such as stopping the machine, unlocking, locking or acknowledging the machine can also be controlled after authentication. As only authorized persons are granted access, the machine is protected against incorrect operation or manipulation and downtimes are reduced.
