Four optional functions

Schmersal has further developed the RSS260 safety sensor and equipped it with new software so that it now offers four additional, optionally selectable functions.

These are: Feedback circuit monitoring (EDM), automatic/manual restart, reset and emergency stop monitoring. In the F0/F1 version, the sensor performs the tasks of a safety relay module - the monitoring of the movable guard and the contactors controlled directly by the sensor outputs is therefore carried out by the integrated logic in the sensor; the use of a separate evaluation device is not necessary.

The sensor with Q function is suitable for machines for which an emergency stop switch is prescribed. Emergency stop switching elements integrated in a series connection can be monitored by the Q function in the last sensor in the chain. This eliminates the need to set up a separate safety circuit for the emergency stop switches. The emergency stop switching elements monitored by the Q function fulfill the requirements up to PL e.
