Mobile Industrial Robots
The autonomous forklift truck
Mobile Industrial Robots and Logitrans have entered into a strategic cooperation to develop autonomous forklifts. These are designed to enable the safe and automated picking up of pallets or other goods directly from the ground and their autonomous transportation.
The solution will combine the navigation technology and software of Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR), a provider of autonomous mobile robots (AMR), with the functionality of the electric material handling equipment developed by Logitrans. The joint development complements MiR's current AMRs for high payloads, which transport pallets or other goods safely and autonomously between people, objects and other industrial trucks in dynamic environments. However, these are so-called underride solutions - when transporting a pallet, so-called 'pallet racks' are used, i.e. transfer stations for picking up and unloading pallets. However, customers are increasingly asking for AMRs that can pick up goods from the floor, transport them and place them back on the floor.
MiR develops and sells collaborative and safe autonomous mobile robots. The company is headquartered in Odense, Denmark, and was acquired by Teradyne, a provider of automated test systems, in 2018.
Logitrans develops, manufactures and distributes material handling equipment and offers customized ergonomic transport solutions, pallet trucks and stainless steel products for the food and pharmaceutical industries. The company employs 75 people in Denmark, 55 in China and 5 in the USA.
