Automatica
Highlights of the robotics trade fair
From June 27 to 30, the Munich trade fair grounds will be dedicated to automation and robotics for the second time in twelve months due to the rotation change. Exhibitors and the supporting program will entice visitors with interesting highlights.
Around 650 exhibitors from 35 countries are expected at this year's Automatica trade fair in Munich. In addition to well-known industry giants, Intrinsic will have a large presence in Hall B4 for the first time. Intrinsic is a software and AI company within Alphabet, the parent company of Google. The company is working to democratize access to robotics by developing an intelligent software and AI platform and will present its first developer product called 'Flowstate' - an intuitive, web-based developer environment for creating robotics applications from concept to deployment.
The supporting program includes various live demonstrations, a total of nine showcases and a stage program. The supporting program also includes the 'munich_i Hightech Summit' on 28 June 2023 with 17 presentations.
The live demonstrations include 'Mobile Robots in Production', for example. The large automatica special show is a live test event on a 850 m2 course that shows how driverless transport vehicles and mobile robots can be operated flexibly and efficiently across manufacturers - via a control system and on shared routes. At the heart of this task is the open communication interface VDA 5050, which enables the orchestration of mobile robots from different brands via a central control system so that they can use the same routes as a heterogeneous fleet.
Trade fair visitors can experience service robots live in the "Service Robot City".
© Munich Trade FairThe 'Service Robot City', including the Robot Restaurant, demonstrates the use of robots in clinics, laboratories, production halls and art galleries. The Service Robot City joint stand offers an overview of the many fields of application for service robots: whether health, hospitality, retail, work or inspection & monitoring: trade fair visitors can discover exhibits in action here, as some of the staff in the Robot Restaurant on site are machines.
A traditional topic at automatica is interoperability - the ability of different devices or machines to connect with each other and communicate regardless of the manufacturer in order to make it easier for end users to access data. The umati Dashboard takes this type of networking to a new level: the demonstrator includes various machines, robots, image processing systems and screwdriving systems distributed across five halls, whose data can be viewed via smartphone. Among the exhibitors: Asentics, ABB, Beckhoff, Denso, Fanuc, Kuka, MVTec, Siemens, spin-robotics, Weber Schraubautomaten and Yaskawa.
