Robots relieve nursing staff

pi4_robotics presents the care assistance robot 'Workerbot9 Care-home', which takes over the strenuous routine tasks that have often made the job of care workers more difficult.

The tray of the care assistant robot from pi4_robotics can carry 10 kg, for example portions of food and other objects. It also carries twelve drinks bottles. With a charging time of just three hours, it can manage a 12- to 18-hour shift, traveling between patients, the kitchen and storage rooms, for example. Thanks to its cameras, laser sensors and safety zones, it does not bump into anyone, but is faster than most pedestrians in an open corridor, as it can reach speeds of up to 5.4 km/h.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research funded the development of the Workerbot9 Care-Home in the 'RoMi' project (robot support for routine tasks to strengthen cooperation in care facilities).
