With the new program, ABB Robotics aims to strengthen collaboration in the development of fully compatible robotics packages across the entire ABB robot portfolio. The aim is to provide easy-to-integrate packages, especially for SMEs, educational institutions and first-time users. "Lack of knowledge and experience in the use of robots can prevent small and medium-sized companies from taking full advantage of robotic automation," emphasizes Andrea Cassoni, Head of Global Business Line General Industry at ABB Robotics. "The range of plug-and-play solutions from our ecosystem partners helps end users overcome these challenges and enables them to quickly and easily integrate robots into their operations."

Packages of preconfigured accessories

As part of the new program, ecosystem partners have the opportunity to develop and offer packages consisting of preconfigured accessories and corresponding software. According to ABB, these are easy to integrate and compatible with their entire portfolio of robotics solutions. The customized, ready-to-use solutions are designed to help both end users and system integrators save time and effort when setting up robots for new applications.

The first ecosystem packages available for ABB's cobots and industrial robots include hardware such as grippers, tables and feeding systems. Software solutions developed by partners, such as programming blocks for ABB's Wizard Easy Programming software and a configuration app, are also to be included in the program at a later date. The ecosystem packages will also help schools and universities to create robot applications and integrate them into their courses.
