The collaboration between GE and Apple gives industrial companies access to powerful apps that enable them to use Predix predictive data and analytics directly on the iPhone or iPad," says John Flannery, Chairman and CEO of GE. It also gives developers the opportunity to create their own powerful IoT industrial applications.

It is designed to enable developers to create native applications that take full advantage of Predix's industrial analytics while leveraging the power and ease of use of iOS.
According to GE, these apps give industrial companies greater insight and transparency into the performance of their equipment and operations. For example, a Predix app can notify an employee on their iPhone of a potential problem with equipment such as a wind turbine, allowing them to collaborate with teams on site during inspections and repairs and collect relevant data immediately.
In collaboration with Apple, GE is developing apps for internal use as well as for its customers. GE will make the iPhone and iPad the internal standard for mobile devices and also promote the Mac as an option for its more than 330,000 employees worldwide. Apple will highlight GE's Predix to customers and developers as the preferred industrial IoT analytics platform.
